The Crown

Once upon a time, according to legend, a European kingdom was governed by a very Christian king, and with a reputation for holiness, who was childless.

The king sent his messengers to place an ad in all the towns and villages in their domains. This said, any girl who meet the requirements to aspire to be a possible successor to the throne, should request an interview with the King.

These two requirements that all candidates were required to:
  • Love God.
  • Love your neighbor.
In a village far away, a youth read the actual announcement and thought about whether he satisfied these requirements, and saw that yes, they loved God, family, friends, neighbors and even enemies. But only one thing could prevent him from going because it was so poor that they had a dress worthy to stand before the holy monarch and also lacked the necessary funds to purchase supplies needed for such a long journey to the palace.

But still he was willing to go over any obstacle, so their poverty would not be a bar to meet such a famous and holy king. So I worked day and night, saved the most of your expenses and when he had enough for the trip, he sold his few belongings, bought fancy clothes, some jewelry, the necessary supplies and began the journey.

Some weeks later, having exhausted almost all their money and being almost at the gates of the city, went to a poor beggar shivering and covered in nothing but rags held out his hand and pleaded with a weak and hoarse voice:

- I'm hungry and cold, please help ... Please!

The young man was so moved by the beggar, who promptly dumped her new clothes and his coat and dress with them after taking the rags of this is donned them without thinking twice and also gave him some of the provisions he carried and moved on.

But no sooner had she crossed the threshold of the city, when a woman with two children so poor and dirty as she approached her and grabbed her hand pleads,

- My children are hungry and I'm not working, help us, please!

Without hesitation, the young man took off his ring finger and gold neck chain and together with the rest of the supplies are delivered to the poor woman.

Then, in a halting, he continued his march towards the castle dressed in rags and without provision for return to their village.

Upon arrival at the castle, he was greeted by an attendant of the King who accompanied him to a large and luxurious saloon and after a brief pause, he was finally admitted to the throne room.

The young man bowed to the king, but what was his surprise when, raising his eyes met those of the King.

Stunned and unable to barely a word said:

- You are the beggar who came near the city, Your Majesty.

At the same moment entered the room, a housekeeper and two girls, bringing water to the weary traveler, for washing and quench their thirst. His surprise was well capitalized and exclaimed:

- You are the man at the gate of the city!

- Yes, "said the emperor with a broad smile that I was a beggar, and my trusty assistant and her daughters poor they are helping.

After gaining a little confidence, he swallowed while he stammered:

- But ... bu ... but ... You are the king! Why I did that majesty?

- Because I needed to find out if your intentions are genuine, if your love is true God and your neighbor, "said the monarch. I knew that if I approached you as King, you could pretend and act not being sincere in your actions or your motives, that way I would have been impossible to discover what is really in your heart. As a beggar not only discovered who really love God and your neighbor, but having passed the test, you're the only one worthy to be my heir.

- You will be my heir! "Declared the King you inherit my kingdom!

King and Lord Jesus, too, crosses the road many times in our lives, often "disguised" ... And he only asks that those two conditions with Him are called and want to inherit his kingdom: love God and love of neighbor in these two commandments are summed up everyone else. But to live them fully, we must learn to resemble the King through the knowledge of his words and deeds: to live like Him, with Him and then to "reign" with Him in the kingdom of their Father for all eternity ...
